Tanya qualified as a solicitor in 2000 having found her niche in practising family law. She trained on the south coast and then joined a highly regarded firm in North Hertfordshire, as a specialist family law solicitor. She became an accredited specialist of Resolution (formerly the Solicitors’ Family Law Association) in 2007 and joined Townsend Family Law Solicitors in 2008.

During her 10 years as a family law specialist, Tanya has gained a wealth of experience in both public and private law children matters, dealing with high profile and challenging cases; high net worth divorce cases as well as low to middle income families looking for practical solutions. She has worked with the Official Solicitor on cases and has advised on complex children and financial matters, in the family proceedings courts, county courts and High Court.
She has been involved with a recently reported case which has led the way for the law to be changed in relation to applications for children to be removed to live abroad.
Personal Stuff
When not at work, Tanya enjoys family life, films, books and entertaining. She particularly enjoys script writing (for puppets!) and good nosh with friends. Tanya especially likes olives and chorizo, sunshine and rain, old friends and cheese. She dislikes mushy peas, muggy days and fingerless gloves!
